Sheila Taylor is a native Houstonian and has been employed with the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs, Texas Southern University since 2002. She has assisted the Urban Planning and Environmental Policy program from 2004 until 2016. She is currently working with the Executive Masters of Public Administration (eMPA) in the Political Science Department. She has received an Associate’s Degree at Houston Community and a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Houston Downtown, in which she graduated Magna Cum Laude for both Degrees. Mrs. Taylor studied criminal justice for both degrees, in which she was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the National Scholar Honor Society.
Exercising her desire for continuing education and the pursuit of knowledge, Mrs. Taylor has taken advantage of participating in classes earning certifications in: Managing Multiple Projects, Objectives and Deadlines, Mastering the Maze of ADA, FMLA Worker’s Comp & Other Leaves, Dean’s Staff Workshop, Customer Service: Best Practices, Common Sense time Management, Specialized Travel –Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, Online Requisitioning Training, People Admin Hiring Managers Training, and Human Resources & Payroll Training. Each of these certifications make her a better resource to the people she serves.
Mrs. Taylor’s current title is an Office Administrator, she has a depth knowledge and understanding of university operations and protocol, which aides in the delivery of professionalism to the department and the university. As an eMPA Administrator, she enjoys providing professionalism to the department staff and students. She further demonstrates proficiency and efficiency, while working with students in their matriculation process.
